Every October, the kids and I pick one Friday night and have what we call a Halloween “Spooktakular”, where we make some fun snacks, dress up in tacky costumes, and watch Halloween movies. This year, we are switching up our snack routine and adding a few new things to the mix. If you’ve been around here for long, you know I’m a huge fan of Walmart’s grocery pickup because it makes shopping so much easier for me. I also LOVE shopping their private brands – I know I can get affordable options without sacrificing quality 🙂
For this year’s “Spooktakular”, we decided to make dipped chocolate rice krispies, mummy hotdogs, and festive brownies. I took as many shortcuts as possible, including ordering the prepackaged Great Value Rice Krispies, as well as their melting wafers, and cookie icing. It made is super easy for the kids to decorate, and they tasted delicious!
To make our treats, we simply melted white chocolate and spread it over our rice krispies. We added candy eyeballs, and Halloween sprinkles while the chocolate was still melted. We also took a pack of weenies and cut them in half, then took a pack of crescent rolls and rolled them out and cut them in strips. Then we wrapped them around the weenies and baked at 350 for about 15 minutes. Lastly, we used a box of brownie mix, and added some fun icings and sprinkles after they were finished baking! The kids loved it and everything was delicious!
