christmas gift guide for boys.

I’m baaaaaaaaaack – to share my gift guide for boys!

My oldest son is 8, and I’ll say this has probably been the hardest year to shop for him yet. I can imagine it gets a little more difficult each year. The toys they want become more expensive and seemingly smaller (haha) each year. His birthday is the month before Christmas, so there’s that.

I put this guide together with 7-10 year olds in mind. This guide contains either things my son has, wants, or things I think he would like. He’s pretty outdoorsy, and loves hunting, sports, and robbing my basement of anything that looks like something he could use to ‘invent’ with.

Here are some of my favorite picks for boys in this age group:

  1. Playz Inventions Science Kit – As I mentioned earlier, Parker is ALWAYS tearing my house apart, looking for gadgets he can use to invent something. I’ve got my eye on this set as a way to protect my house and let him be creative.
  2. Muck Boots – These are a must at our house. Living around a farm, especially during the winter, means muddy weather and destroyed shoes. My family lives by muck boots as they are literally designed to keep your feet protected in all the ‘muck’.
  3. Boxer Interactive A.I. Robot – Parker has had his eye on this since he saw an ad for it. It’s on his list, and it’s getting great reviews!
  4. Replica Mini Helmets – Parker collects these and has for years. They make a great gift and are perfect for any sports fanatic.
  5. Lego Police Chase Set – Kids love legos. Moms? I’m not so sure. I love to see the creations they come up with when they build, I just wish I had a better system to keep up with the 5 billion pieces. HAHA.
  6. Nerf Rival Nemesis – I might call this one “Bad ideas that happen to good people”, because going back to that 5 billion pieces thing, but my oldest never tires of Nerf guns and this one appears to be quite the mega Nerf gun (and with great reviews!)
  7. Blanket with Sleeves – Ben made fun of me for getting this for Parker’s birthday, but I got the last laugh on it. He LOVED it. He’s my cold child. He will walk around the house with my throw blankets wrapped around his body. So finding this blanket with sleeves easily transitions from the couch to the kitchen table (yes, he wears it to eat) to the bed.
  8. Electronic Piggy Bank/ATM – Parker has always wanted something like this. We’re trying to teach him habits of saving, and I think it would definitely make it more fun with something like this.
  9. Walkie Talkies – I don’t think I need to even elaborate with this one. We’ve had several sets through the years and always get so much use from them. We need to invest in a good set, and these are reasonably priced with good reviews.
  10. Quarterback Touchdown Game – I don’t know who would want this more – Ben or Parker. This looks like a great outside/basement activity for them. Bonus – reviews mentioned its a fun party game, too!
